Parr Foods is based on the belief that "less is more". Less ingredients, more flavor. The ingredient lists are short and without preservatives or refined products. Each bar is hand made in Boone, NC with the intention of keeping you healthy and moving in the North Carolina Mountains. Whether riding the single track, hiking Grandfather Mountain, or just living healthy Boone Barr's will sustain you.
My name is Jay Parr and I started making energy bars after graduating from Le Cordon Bleu, School of Culinary Arts in 2004. With my experience in the kitchen and my love of the outdoors, the creation of the Boone Barr was inevitable. In 2008, I went back to school to study entrepreneurship and sustainable development at Appalachian State University. With enough encouragement from friends and family (especially my parents and Uncle Mark), I finally decided to give selling them a try. After a short conversation with a local coffee shop owner, the Boone Barr was put in its first retail location. Since then, we have grown from a rental home kitchen to a small production facility with several great employees. The rest is history.

Parr Foods, L.L.C. is a small, sustainable local-run business located in Boone, NC. We produce the Boone Barr, a whole food energy bar made from all natural and organic ingredients. Each bar is handmade and vacuum sealed to keep it fresh without the use of preservatives. We do not add sugar or artificial flavors, and use 100% wildflower honey as a sweetener in all but our vegan bar, which is sweetened with molasses.
Quality, sustainability, and hard work are our driving principles. We hope to take this great local product and distribute it regionally to retailers with likeminded values.
